Pencil it in! Nature Inspired Pattern

Art projects you can do after work

Welcome to another project for Pencil it in! Each project is super easy to do, even if you’re tired after work. The point of this series is to play with art for a few minutes a day, even if you’re tired or annoyed.

Today we’re looking at nature again, but it’s all about the shapes!

Nature Inspired Pattern

Time: 20 minutes

Supplies: Paper, pen or pencil, optional colors

Instructions:

  1. Think about something you noticed outside today on a walk or while looking outside. Perhaps a leaf shape, flower, interesting cloud, a pond, etc.

  2. Simplify this observation into 3 basic shapes. Choose one color for each shape or keep the whole pattern one color.

  3. Fill a page with these 3 shapes in a way that feels natural to you, creating a pattern. Try it a few times!

Doodling a pattern is a great way to relax while creating something cute.
