Art projects you can do after work
Welcome to another Pencil it in! Each project is super easy to do, even if you’re tired after work. The point of this series is to play with art for a few minutes a day, even if you’re tired or annoyed.
Before we begin, I have a question for you. If we did mini art projects like this as a group, would you be into it? It’s something I ponder doing at times. Think about it and let me know if you like the idea!
This week we’re looking at splashes of colors to create simple cityscapes. It’s a great way to practice painting and drawing imperfectly while making something interesting.
Splashes of Color as Cityscapes
Time: 20 minutes
Supplies: Watercolor paper or thick paper, watercolors or watercolor pencils, aquabrush, markers, and a fine black pen.

Instructions:
Create loose splashes of color on your page with no particular shapes or ideas. Let it dry completely.
Using your black pen, draw a city on top of the color to include the outlines of buildings. Add a few details such as windows and doors. Add a few lines to indicate a simple road or sidewalk.
Use your markers to create accents of color wherever it feels natural and expressive.
The loose background and splashes of color creates a great contrast with the ink!
