How to use art to volunteer and more.
A while back, I learned that seniors in senior living could really use art to brighten their day and give their rooms a personal touch. I’ve heard the same things for those in foster care. It makes sense, personal decorating can help you feel more at ease in a new place.
Want a group project for you and your colleagues?
This is a really cool project that you can do with a group if you want to help those in foster care: Foster Love Sweet Cases.
Interested in sending art to seniors?
1. Call local nursing homes to ask if they accept artwork donations for residents. Check out Bring Smiles to Seniors or lettersagainstisolation.com if you aren’t sure of anywhere local. You can also contact your local Meals on Wheels because they do accept art!
2. Invite friends, family, classmates, or coworkers to join you for a coloring or card making session. Send happy art! Add a note or write an encouraging message on the back.
3. Follow the facility’s guidelines for dropping off or mailing your donations.
Consider making this a regular activity. Perhaps monthly!
Are you an artist who likes making coloring pages?
Here’s another idea. Donate your printed pages (or even the files) to anyone you think could use them. We all know how relaxing it is to simply color in a drawing.
Know of any cool charities? I’d love to hear of anything new.
