These artistic topics bring something new to the table.
Do you know it’s good for you to learn new techniques?
Even if you’re not good at the hobby you’re learning, it releases dopamine, helps with thinking, and puts you in a good mood.
Here are a few books that I like that teach new techniques or ideas:
This book is a great example of an author who encourages you to try lettering, even if you’re like me and are not perfect at it! Like honestly, you probably can’t read my real handwriting, but she makes me believe that I can make interesting things.
This book was eye opening to me. People actually hire people to take notes and make them pretty! I’m still not good at sketch noting unless I have quite a while to experiment, but find it really cool this is an entire career path for people.
This book is another group of people I didn’t know about. There is a community around nature journaling. I’m very into the fact that when it comes to drawing, they are about observations instead of skill. That said, the artists who do this are very talented at art too.
This book is more of a business book, but is super practical if you’re looking to sell your art.
This book is extra enjoyable because you learn how to make silly, wonky art.
See some themes in my choices? I made this list off the top of my head, but now see that it’s all about making art because you enjoy it, are true to what you like, or are using it to record ideas.
What kind of books do you like?
