To keep up a habit, you need to make it easy to do.
Want to make art more often?
Put your art supplies in front you. Use portable paints and paper.
I like drawing in pencil, but paint is so pretty. This is why I like to use watercolor pencils and water brushes as one of my options. You draw, but the water lets you turn it to paint!
Faber-Castell watercolor pencils are nice. They come in a cute tin. I’m really into the pencil sharpener and their Pitt Artist pens. They’re one of the only pens that don’t seem to smear when when. I do wait a day to do any painting on them.
A mini watercolor palette is another option if you’re ready to do more painting instead of drawing. The colors are more saturated.
Normal things become art when you draw them. Draw what you see; you can even draw your hand! Make it small. Make it a different color. Add shading.
I look at it in steps. It’s like a coloring book for me to fill out.
Step 1: Find a cool book or something as inspiration.
Step 2: Draw what inspires you in pencil in a small sketchbook.
Step 3: Ink the pencil and let it dry for a few hours or a day.
Step 4: Erase the pencil marks, or keep them.
Step 5: Add color with watercolor pencils or paint.
You can keep these materials on a shelf and pick them up easily. If you try it, please reach out! I want to see your art. Encouraging you to do something you like is kind of the whole point of me putting art online.
